Arteries

Veins

An artery Has a thick elastic and muscular wall.

A vein has a thinner less elastic and a less muscular wall.

An artery always carries blood away from the heart.

A vein carries blood to the heart.

All arteries except the pulmonary arteries carry “Pure oxygenated blood”.

All veins except the pulmonary veins carry “impure” Deoxygenated blood.

An artery is pink in color.

A vein is red in color.

Arteries are situated deep in the muscles.

Veins are more superficially situated.

Most arteries do not have values.

Most Veins have in them to prevent reflux of blood.
